Most owners of petroleum products stored in tanks are used to monitor their stock by dipping the tank with a dip stick. The value on the dipstick is a rough estimate of the product level.

Modern times with high fuel prices require a more reliable method of controlling wet stock.

Temperature and water bottom fuel measurement

The VITO LT is a member of the VITO family product line for temperature and water bottom measurement the VITO LT is used for less demanding requirements in comparison with the W&M approved VITO series.

Like any member of the VITO family, the VITO LT is a robust and reliable device representing the leading edge in sensor technology, fully complying with all major industrial standards such as ISO and API.

Due to the large quantities and characteristics of products stored, the temperature of the tanks content is rarely uniform. Single spot temperature measurement cause a higher uncertainty of the average product temperature, running into differences in stock accounting of several thousands of US dollars for an average 50,000 cubic meter storage tank. Not to mention the uncertainty in total storage capacity of the tank farm. That is why the VITO LT sensors provide average temperature of your stored product by averaging the emerged temperature sensing elements to take the effect of product layers into account. Optionally it measures the water level at the bottom of the tank as well, to get the right figures for asset management calculations.

The VITO LT interface is a solid state electronic unit supplying the measured data to any other field instrument. Power and transmission is taken care of by using only a 2-core (twisted pair) cable between interface and gauge. The intrinsically safe signals from the VITO LT comply with all major safety requirements for use in hazardous areas. Together with the Enraf tank gauges, the VITO LT contributes in solving your accurate tank inventory management needs.
